Culture, tourism, only viable alternative to oil – Ajia Olubadan

The Ajia Balogun Olubadan, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, Sunday stated  that with the unstable economic situation around the world, culture and tourism is the only viable alternative to oil for Nigeria as a country.

Speaking with newsmen at the 2020 annual Abose  Day celebration held at UMC school ground, Molete, Ibadan, Chief Adegoke stated that considering this fact, there is the need for Nigeria governments to show more interest and as well develop the numerous cultures and tourist centres in and across the country for more revenue .

He pointed out that the time has come for governments at all levels in Nigeria  to show more commitment towards  improving the tourism sector as there are more than abundant rich culture and tourist centres in and across the country which can  fetch  governments enough revenue if tapped.

“Government at all levels should explore all the potentials in culture and tourism for economic development and growth. Tourism is a multifaceted and multidimensional activity. It is not just about fun, it is business and government should look at the business aspect. It makes more money than most other industries,” he said.
