COVID-19: Sen. Al-Makura donates food items to constituency

Senator Representing Nasarawa South senatorial district Umaru Almakura, Wednesday distributed foodstuffs to different households in the zone as palliative to ease the hardship the stay-at-home.

Almakura while delivering the food items, in Lafia explained that the gesture was in fulfillment of part of his campaign promises to see to the needs of members of his senatorial zone at all times.

He said that the effort was to cushion the effect of the stay-at-home order by the state government.

“I am doing this to ease the hardship and serve as a palliative measure to the stay-at-home and stay safe order by the government as a result of COVID-19,” he said.

Al-Makura who is the immediate past governor of Nasarawa state said the food item was shared to the constituents in the five local government areas of Lafia, Doma, Obi, Keana and Awe which made up the senatorial zone.

He said each local government is expected to get 500 bags of rice and each electoral ward would get 50 bags.

Al-Makura advised members of the senatorial zone to maintain personal hygiene by constantly washing their hands and maintain social distancing.

He therefore, urged them to continue to adhere strictly to government’s safety measures to contain the spread of the disease in the state.

He maintained that he would continue to assist more members of the senatorial zone especially the poor of the poorest.
