Nasarawa state government Sunday, evacuated 788 Almajiri Children to five states.

Addressing the children at the government science school Lafia before departure to their various states of origin, governor Abdullahi Sule said the essence was for their parents to take proper care of them.

He said the action was imperative to curb the spread of COVID 19 Pandemic as according to him the five states the children were evacuated to have less risk of COVID 19 which include  Plateau, Gombe, Taraba, Jigawa and Kaduna states.

Sule further explained that the action to evacuate the children was  a collective decision of all the 19 Northern state governors as part of measures to mitigate the spread of the disease.

“Taking these almajiri back to their various states was in a manner of love and care that the northern governors have for the Almajiri.

“If we leave them roaming the street today they are exposed to kinds of dangers especially in a very critical stage like this nobody can take good care of them better than their own parents.”

He said a token of money had also been provided for the children to buy some refreshments on their ways as most of them are too young to observe the Ramadan Fast due to their ages.
