Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force serving in the North-east have been given automatic promotion.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, announced the promotion yesterday in Maiduguri, while on official visit to Borno state.
Arase told journalists that in view of the peculiar situation of their areas of operation, policemen serving in the region were promoted without promotion examination and promotion training.
He also revealed that in all, over 39,000 personnel nationwide were promoted from various ranks to higher ranks.

Addressing policemen at the Borno state police command earlier, the IGP restated the commitment of the Force to the welfare of personnel.
He said another area being given priority in the Force, under his administration, “is the provision of all the necessary equipment and logistics.”
Arase charged the officers and men of the Command to dedicate themselves to their statutory responsibilities, adding that the Force was also encouraging community partnership.
He called on the public to remain law abiding and go about their normal businesses without fear.
