Confab to address unemployment – NLC President

Comrade Abdulwahaab Umar of the Nigeria Labour Congress is concerned about the issue of redressing monumental unemployment in Nigeria, especially given the incident of last Saturday when some people who went in search of jobs died in a stampede across the country.
He said there was need to restructure the administrative system in order to bring about prudence in the economy noting that if the issue of governance is properly addressed, unemployment would be a thing of the past.

While condoling the families of the victims, the NLC president called on government to apply appropriate sanctions to the culprits who he accused of only minding what they would make from the process instead of properly organising the aptitude test.
He also stated that organised labour believe in the corporate existence of the country and good governance.
He stated that the present structure of labour is properly placed noting that they would not allow it to be subjected to political interest

where labour issues would be reduced to the regional or state level.
He said only a leader who has skeleton in its cupboard that would not want criticism.
