Communications Day: Cleric tasks media on objective reportage

By Okey Chris Awka

Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has charged media practitioners to always propagate the truth aimed at fostering unity in the society. Ezeokafor gave the charge yesterday in a homily during a holy mass to mark 2017 World Communications Day, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka. Speaking on the theme of the 2017 World Communications Day, “Fear not for I Am With You: Communicating Hope and Trust In Our Time,” the prelate noted that media practitioners were change agents “and, therefore, should give right information that would promote growth and development of the society.”

He also advised them to use their medium to preach salvation and not to be afraid of anything that might arise in the course of their duty or duties, adding that “the job of the media practitioner is hazardous; God would always be there to help his people.” He enjoined them to see their profession as a call for the salvation of mankind and better informed society.
