Abure fights back, sacks Labour party exco in Edo

In a show of force, National Chairman of Labour Party (LP) Barrister Julius Abure has dissolved the Edo state exco of the troubled party.

The party leadership consequently constituted a 17-man caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of LP in the state.

The new State Executive Committee (SEC) is headed by a former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Elizabeth Ativie.

The caretaker committee was inaugurated by the Deputy National Chairman of LP, Dr Ayo Olorunfemi, on Monday in Benin City.

The move is coming barely 72 hours after Mr. Kelly Ogbaloi, the Edo state chairman LP reportedly said its exco has upheld the suspension of Julius Abure by his Ward 3 in Arue, Esan North East in the state.

However, National spokesman for the LP, Mr. Obiora Ifoh had countered the purported suspension of Abure, declaring that Article 17 subsection 1 (2019) of the party is clear on the removal of the National Chairman.
