Chairman presents instructional materials to Kuje L.E.A

The chairman, Kuje area council, Alhaji Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, Monday presented learning materials and as well laid the foundation of annex office building of the Local Education Authority (LEA) in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Presenting the materials to Kuje LEA Secretary, Mr. Bulus Danladi, the chairman said education is the cornerstone of every society saying the development and growth of any nation depends on the education of her citizens.

The chairman pointed out that when he came on board, the LEA Kuje was in shambles as a result of mal-administration, noting that activities at the LEA were politicised.

He said teachers’ entitlements and welfare were neglected, noting that the most annoying part was the poor and none remittance of staff pension contributions.

He stated the council under him set up a verification committee which found out that the Kuje LEAD had the highest number of non-teaching staff in the FCT, explaining that over 1, 000 staff were employed in 2018 without budgetary provision.

, some of the employees are not employable because they have nothing to offer intellectually.

The chairman said his administration will not allow this trend to remain or continue.

He continued that, he is going to implement some key recommendations of the verification committee as it related to 2018 employees and others.

The chairman also observed that, from the report of the transition committee, some of the primary schools were over staffed while some were others were understaffed.

The chairman presented 30,000 copies of exercise books; 20,000 packets of biros; 20,000 cartons of mathematical sets; 3,000 copies of customised Semase lesson plan note books and 2,000 copies of diaries.

Others were 2,000 copies of school attendance registers; 500 cartons of chalks and 150 packets of pencils.

Other materials include; cardboard papers, A4 papers, foolscaps sheets and six (6) number motorcycles for schools supervision and monitoring. These are for primary and secondary schools in Kuje area council.

The chairman said the council will frown at any move to undermine the purpose at which the materials are provided.

He tasked teachers to redouble their efforts and rededicate themselves to work by giving proper and quality service to the children as the administration will not tolerate lackadaisical attitude to work.

He assumed everybody that any money accrued to Kuje Area Council under his watch shall be accounted for.

Earlier in his address, the LEA secretary, Mr. Bulus Danladi thanked the council chairman for the prompt payment of some of the entitlements earlier promised.

The occasion was graced by traditional rulers, stakeholders and party stalwarts.
