CAF Women Champions League: Bayelsa Queens get opponents

The only women club representing Nigeria, Bayelsa Queens, have known its opponents in the group stage of this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League.

The club which emerged Champions of Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) and WAFU Zone B Champions will confront defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Egypt’s Wadi Degla FC and UNIFFAC of Central African Republic in the competition’s first stage.

Bayelsa Queens were paired in Group B of the continental Women’s League in a draw that was made by the Confederation of Africa Football, (CAF) on Friday.

CAF noted that the second edition of the Women’s Champions League, scheduled to take place from 30 October to 13 November 2022 in Morocco, will feature some high-profile matches with 8 teams slugging it out.

The draw which took place at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Rabat, revealed the composition of the groups.

In group A, the host club ASFAR FC (Morocco), which won the Women’s Champions League bronze medal in Egypt last year, will face Tanzania’s Simba Queens, Zambia’s Green Buffaloes and Liberia’s Determine Girls.
In group B, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa will face Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens, Egypt’s Wadi Degla and the UNIFFAC representative.

According to the release made by CAF, the group stage matches will hold between 30th of October and 6 November, 2022.

The semi-final matches will hold on November 9, third place match on 12th while final will on 13th.
