Bwari emir charges political office holders on fairness

By Donald Iorchir

Emir of Bwari, Alhaji Mohammed Ijakaro, has charged political office holders, at all levels, to be fair in piloting the affairs of their electorate.
Ijakaro advised them to see themselves as messengers sent by God, who must be concerned about “what bothers those they rule, especially in handling issues of their immediate followers.”
In an interaction with journalists recently, the Emir pointed out that touching the lives of masses through execution of projects that would have direct bearing on them should be the focus of every political office holder.
According to him, leadership comes with a lot of challenges, but as leaders there should be commitment to areas that would assist in overcoming them as well as fashioning out ways that could be in interest of all.
He charged them not to be carried away by other issues, but to focus more on making things work out much better, rather than being deterred by distractions or things that would not add value to lives.
“The major concern of every political office holder, whether elected or appointed, should be how the people will enjoy better social amenities, especially at the rural communities.
“Rural dwellers need more intervention in the area of infrastructure development; so these leaders should try as much as possible to see that they provide things that will have direct bearing on the people.”
The royal father also counselled the leaders to be more transparent and dedicated to service delivery, even as he called on their followers to always support them in areas that would assist them to succeed.
