Buni signs N163bn 2023 budget into law

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has on Thursday signed the sum of N163 billion budget into law for the 2023 fiscal year.

The appropriation bill which was tagged: “The Budget of Continuity, Consolidation and Economic Transformation” will focus on the completion of ongoing capital projects across the state.

Speaking during the occasion at the WAWA Hall Government House Damaturu, Buni said, the 2023 appropriation and finance bill which was submitted had a total sum of ₦163,155,366,000.

According to the governor, in line With the oversight function, the state house of assembly made some adjustments thereby decreasing the total Budget size to ₦163,005,366,000.

He revealed that the recurrent and capital expenditures for the 2023 fiscal year stood at N87.8.billion and N75.1 billion respectively.

Buni noted that the prompt passage of the 2023 budget indicated the cordial working relationship between the two arms of government in the state.

He further said, the state will complete all the ongoing projects such as, Damaturu International Cargo Airport, modern markets and Potiskum trailer park to boost the state internally generated revenue.

Buni revealed that the state government will also initiate new projects to create more job opportunities among the youths.

“I wish to appeal to all public office holders, civil servants and contractors to continue to uphold values of transparency, accountability, due process and financial discipline in the Implementation of 2023 budget,” he added.
