Buni charges farmers, herders on peaceful co-existence

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has charged farmers and grazers in the state to live in peace for economic prosperity.

A statement by the media aide to the governor, Mamman Mohammed, quoted Buni as giving the charge in Ngelzarma on Friday at a solidarity rally organised in his honour.

He said the farming occupation complements grazing and vice versa because the two need each other to thrive.

The governor challenged both farmers and grazers to fish out bad eggs in their midst who create confusion and crisis among the communities.

“In the post insurgency Yobe state, we now enjoy relative peace, we should not allow anyone to come and create crisis among us,” he cautioned.

Buni reminded traditional rulers and opinion leaders in the state of their responsibility in building and promoting peace in their domains.

“The newly elected National President of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Alh Baba Usman Ngelzarma is from Yobe state, we should all assist him to succeed by preaching and supporting peaceful coexistence not just in the state but across the country,” he said.

The Miyetti Allah President, Alh. Baba Usman Ngelzarma,  eulogised Buni for  supporting him in the last election.

“My victory at the polls was a Yobe state victory, l therefore need your support and cooperation to contribute to building peace in the states and to protect the rights of cattle breeders,” he added.
