Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Joseph Garba Anebi, has expressed optimism that the present government of president Muhammadu Bubari will tackle head-long some of the challenges confronting the Service with a view to ensuring its effectiveness.
Anebi stated this yesterday in Abuja when he received the new Naval commander, Abuja Unit, Commodore Ngolmo Poyilma Aliyu, who paid him a courtesy call.
He said the Federal Fire Service was desirous of cooperating with any organisation towards achieving a common goal of saving lives, property and environment.
He said: “The Nigerian Fire Service is old enough to rank among the well developed agencies in the country having been established in 1901, but lacked the capacity due to several setbacks which could be corrected as we are optimistic that the current administration will tackle headlong some of the challenges confronting the Service with a view to ensuring its effectiveness.”
Earlier, Commodore Aliyu, who solicited the assistance of the CG on personnel training in efficient and effective handling of its acquired fire truck, said both organisations had much to share in common.
“At this particular time in the history of the country, where exists insecurity, fire disaster cases and other crimes that requires response and security agencies synergising with a view to achieving peace and co-existence in an atmosphere devoid of the aforementioned challenges,” he said.
