The newly sworn-in President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has announced the elimination of fuel subsidy in Nigeria, citing its lack of long-term viability.
The declaration was made during his inaugural address at the Eagle Square in Abuja, marking his first communication to the Nigerian people.
He said, “On fuel subsidy, the budget I met before I assumed office and what I heard is that there is no provision for subsidy. Fuel subsidy is gone.”
