Breaking: Nigerians face more hard times as doctors declare indefinite strike

The Nigerian Association of  Resident Doctors (NARD) have declared an indefinite strike.

The doctors on Tuesday night declared strike over what it described as failure of government to meet the demands of its members.

The president of the association, Dr. Emeka Orji, said “the strike is commencing by Wednesday Morning, July 26, 2023.”

He said the decision was reached at the meeting held by the NARD NEC members Tuesday night in Lagos.

Orji said their demands include 200 percent salary increment, replacement of doctor who have resigned and payment of the 2023 residency training allowance.

Orji lamented that their members are being overworked due to inadequate manpower and that they no longer continue to wait for the government to do needful.

He said the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) had asked them to hold on till Friday last week and by Friday, nothing happened.
