Breaking: Former House of Representatives Speaker is dead

Report reaching Blueprint indicates that former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’aba, has passed on.

According to a family source, Rt. Hon. Na’aba was the House of Representatives Speaker from 1999 to 2003, reportedly died early Wednesday morning December 27, 2023 at an Abuja hospital after suffering illness, aged 65.

Late Na’Abba joined the Peoples Democratic Party, and became the party’s candidate for Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, a position he  won during the April 1999 general elections.

He subsequently emerged Speaker of the House of Representatives after the political crisis that led to exit of the first Speaker of the Fourth Republic,  Salisu Buhari.

The remains of the former Speaker would be buried in Abuja later in the day in line with the Islamic rites.
