BPE renovates, hands over school building to JSS Kubwa II mgt

The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) on Tuesday handed over the blocks of four classrooms, four staff offices and a storeroom it renovated back to the management of Junior Secondary School Kubwa II, Abuja.

The renovation work at the school is part of BPE’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for 2023.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of its 2023 CSR project at the Junior Secondary School (JSS) Kubwa II, Director General of BPE, Mr. Alex Okoh, said the project signifies the bureau’s commitment to contribute positively to the society as well as uplift the lives of people living in communities.

He said, “This year, the Bureau is proud to announce the successful completion of the renovation projects at Junior Secondary School Kubwa II (JSS Kubwa II) and a Primary Health Centre at Mabushi, Abuja.”

Okoh, represented by Director Agriculture and Natural Resources of the bureau, Mr Ignatius Ayewoh, called on other MDAs to give back to the communities they reside in.

“The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has consistently recognized the importance of investing in the growth and development of our communities. Over the years, we have implemented various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, especially in the health and educational sectors within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and its surrounding areas,” Okoh said.

In her remarks, Director/Principal, Junior Secondary School (JSS) Kubwa II, Abuja,Mrs. Okwuonu Lynda Njideka expressed her gratitude to BPE for the building saying both the teachers and students will now be able to learn in a conducive environment.

According to the Principal, she now sees the bureau in a new light.

“I want to also thank the BPE, they came here and revealed a lot about them. I used to have misconceptions about them but looking at this beautiful edifice I know what they can do. BPE has made my children and I very happy, including my teachers. We now have a comfortable block of classrooms to study in,” she said.

Speaking with reporters after the commissioning of the building, the Project manager of Myslow Development Solutions, Engr Muhammed Aminu Abdullahi, said the company was motivated by the need to leave a lasting legacy for the school.

“Obviously, it’s this school and it’s a public school as well. Probably, students who come to this school are from humble backgrounds. And they really get the opportunity to get it this good. So, as a company, Myslow Development Solutions, we looked into it and we took it upon ourselves to try our very best, to give them something that is lasting and also help them for many years to come because only God knows when the next intervention will come to this school,” he said.
