Borno reintegrates 2,528 children associated with armed groups 

The Borno state Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo has said  between 2006 and 2023, more than  2,528 children  comprising of 888 girls and 1, 640 boys were released from administrative custody and provided with interim care services and community based reintegration support.

She stated this Tuesday at a workshop organised by UNICEF in collaboration with other humanitarian  and development partners.

Borno Model is a community- based driven initiative that has motivated and provided children the opportunity to exit non state armed groups and also provide Transit Camp Support Services including family tracing and reunification for the unaccompanied and separated children and  about 8,460 children  have exited non state armed groups in the state. 

The Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Hauwa Abubakar, represented by the director, Legal Drafting of the ministry, Yagana Gazali,  said  the ministry has been monitoring the armed conflict group, and in supporting this, series of training

have been  delisting the names of the children from the rank and file for their actions. 

“Our paramount duty is to ensure the protection and well-being of the children,” he said.
