Borno market: APC support group seeks palliatives, compensation for victims

The National APC Supporters Centre, the coordinating group of all the support groups for the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima presidential ticket, has sympathised with the victims of

the Maiduguri Monday market, which is popularly known as Kasuwar Litinin located within the Borno State capital.

Recall that the Monday market, a large market in Borno State, where people from neighbouring countries Chad, Niger, and Cameroon come to buy goods, was engulfed by a fire outbreak on Sunday.

The National Coordinator of the group, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Batati, in a statement he issued on Sunday night, called on the government, cooperate organisations, and well-meaning Nigerians to urgently give the victims of the fire incident palliatives to cushion the effect of the disaster on them.

Batati, who commended the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum for his N1bn intervention, also called on the Federal Government to compensate them for business activities to resume in the market in earnest.

He said: “I wish to on behalf of the National APC Supporters Centre, a leading coordinating group of all the support groups for the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima presidential ticket commiserates with the victims of the Maiduguri Monday market, whose shops and goods were razed by the fire outbreak in the market on Sunday.

“This development is very unpleasant, and a setback to the Borno State economy. This is not expected. However, the owners of shops and goods razed are the victims of this ugly incident. We as a group, hereby, call on the Federal Government to compensate the victims of the fire incident in the market to sustain their means of livelihood.

“We equally thank the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum for this timely N1bn intervention. This will help the victims of the incident to recover on time. To this end, we are calling for more palliatives to cushion the effect of the incident on them”.
