Borno awards N10.9bn road contract to Dan Nene 

 

The Borno state government has signed a contract of over N10.9 billion with Dan Nene Construction Company for the construction of three major roads in the state. 

The contract signing ceremony took place at the office of the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Musa Usman secretariat, Maiduguri, Thursday.

The works and housing commissioner, Engr Mustapha Gubio, who signed the contract on behalf of the state government, said down payment of 40 percent contract sum had been made to the contractor with the assurance that subsequent payments would be made on the presentation of valuation duly vetted by the engineers on site.

The commissioner added that with the 40 percent down payment, it was expected that much progress would be achieved within a short period as well as timely completion of the project. 

The commissioner said out of the contractors who applied for the work, Dan Nene Construction Company was found suitable and called on them to  complete the project within the stipulated period of eight months as well as adhere strictly to the project specification. 

The commissioner also directed the consultants and engineers as well as stakeholders to always be on site to ensure that quality and standard of work are adhered to.

He thanked the state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for his developmental effort and for giving the ministry all the necessary support and timely release of funds for the execution of projects across the state.

Representative of the construction company, Mr Li Chao, thanked the Borno state government for finding them worthy to be awarded the contract and assured of timely completion.
