Birthday: Players union rolls out drums, celebrates Rangers boss, Sunshine stars captain


It is indeed, times for jollification and celebrations in the Nigerian football community, as the General Manager of Enugu Rangers, Davidson Owumi and the captain of Sunshine stars of Akure, Sunday Abe, celebrates their birthday on Sunday.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers (NANPF), Comrade Austin Popo, the foremost players’ union described the day as double celebration of the gift of life. 


“In view of the recent misfortunes that befell Nigerian football with deaths, kidnapping and injuries, we want to thank God for His mercies upon the lives of Sunday Abe and Davidson Owumi. We are particularly, grateful that we are celebrating life and not death.


“Davidson Owumi is a legend of Nigerian football and we join the world to celebrate him, today and always. We also appreciate God for adding another year to the life of our ambassador, Sunday Abe, who is the chairman of NANPF in Ondo State,” he stated.


Recently, Abe Sunday, captain of Sunshine stars, Akure played a yeoman’s role in facilitating the release of kidnapped duo of Dare Ojo and Benjamin Iluyomade of Enyimba fc and Abia Comets of Aba respectively.
