Benue killing: Mark calls for caution

Former President of the Senate, David Mark, yesterday condemned the crisis that erupted in Ugboju area of Otukpo local government council of Benue state in which a retired army officer, Major Lawrence Ugbo, and about 10 others lost their lives. He tasked security operatives not to leave any stone unturned to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the crisis and, consequently, bring the perpetrators to book.

“No matter how provocative or the anger in a man’s mind, resort to violence only aggravates the situation. Dialogue has always been the best solution to any problem.” He urged the state government to set up a panel of enquiry into the matterwith a view to finding lasting solution to the crisis just as he reminded the people of the need to uphold the age long tradition of being their brother’s keeper for which the Idoma people had been known over the years. “We are not known for violence and our culture and tradition abhor it,” he said.
