Benue APC stalwart lauds Tinubu on Akume’s appointment as SGF

Frontline gubernatorial aspirant during the 2023 election on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue, Dr. Mathis Buyaan, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the appointment of Sen. George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Buyaan, who came 2nd in the APC primaries won by Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the incumbent governor of Benue state, said the choice of Akume as the SGF by President Tinubu was divine and the best thing to happen to the entire people of the North Central geopolitical zone.

The politician who spoke to newsmen at a thanksgiving mass, organised by St. Augustine’s Catholic Tiv Community in honour of the SGF held in Nyanya, Abuja over the weekend, said Akume’s appointment is a demonstration of Tinubu’s deep love and care for the region.

He stated that the people of the region are indebted to President Tinubu and would surely reciprocate the gesture in future elections, noting that the office of the SGF is an important position in government, which has been handed over to the leader of the party in the North Central geopolitical region.

His words: “Let me tell you. The office of the SGF is a big one. God used President Tinubu to appoint our father, leader and political strategist to this position. It is purely an act of God.”

He urged all Benue indigenes, especially the elite to support the SGF to succeed in this onerous task, while describing Akume as a “Lion in the Benue Forest” capable of devouring any political threat.

The maverick politician also described Akume as a kindhearted leader who is ever ready to accommodate people irrespective of their social standing.

Buyaan, who is the Managing Director of  Buyaan Resources Limited, a conglomerate with headquarters in Abuja, declared that the people of the North Central will queue behind the Tinubu-led administration and support all its  programmes for  peace, and development of the country.
