A group of elders under the auspices of Bayelsa Development Forum (BDF) has said that the feat recorded at the just concluded state assembly polls had proven that Bayelsa remained a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state and stronghold.
Blueprint recalls that PDP’s victory that won them 20 seats in the state house of assembly is a pointer to the fact that the party had no opposition in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Thompson Okorotie, and Publicity Secretary, Dr. George Fente.
The group also hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security forces for their high level of service delivery in the conduct of state House of Assembly elections in the state.
The BDF said: “We are very happy about the violence-free elections conducted under free, fair and credible atmosphere throughout Bayelsa state.
“We commend the leadership quality of Governor Seriake Dickson and his deputy John Jonah, who was the chairman of the Central Campaign Committee.
“The governor and his deputy nurtured the new democratic culture emerging in Bayelsa into the most peaceful and successful elections since the inception of the creation of the state.
“It is now clear and that Bayelsa state remains a PDP state and stronghold as the people has spoken again during the recent general elections.”
The group canvassed for a second term of Dickson, saying that the development would engender continuity as well as enable the government to complete the ongoing development projects in the state.
It urged the people of the state to be peaceful and united for the common good of all and support Dickson’s second term bid.
