Following the recent redeployment of senior army officers, a new Commander has been appointed for the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC) in Bauchi state.

The new Commander is Major General Tanko Yahaya Gaiya who replaced Major General Ugo Buzugbe who has served in that capacity for many years before his redeployment to army headquarters.
Assistant Director, Army Public Relations Officer Captain Danjuma Jonah Danjuma in a press statement said Buzugbe has been deployed to the headquarters to head the Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans (DAPP) as the Chief of Policy and Plans(COPP).

The statement quoted Major General Buzugbe as saying he was leaving Bauchi with huge nostalgic feelings having served at various times right from his early days as a young Officer in 1982 when he came for course, later instructors and eventually commanded the corps.
According to the statement, the new Commander Armoured Corps (CAC), Major General Gaiya, is a seasoned senior armoured officer who has held various command and staff appointments and was the Commander of the 21 and 22 Armoured Brigades in Maiduguri and Ilorin, respectively.

Prior to his appointment, he was the Director of Administration at Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) headquarters who had assumed duty as the Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps after the routine military ceremonial handing and taking over that took place at the Quarter Guard in Obienu Barracks.
