Bandits kill 26 civilians, 7 soldiers in Zamfara

No fewer than 26 people including seven soldiers have been killed by bandits at Kangon Garacci village under Dangulbi district of Maru local government area of Zamfara state.

A resident of the area, Malam Bello Dangulbi, stated this in a telephone conversation with Blueprint on Tuesday.

According to him, the bandits invaded the community around 04:00pm on Monday.

He said the bandits with their leader Ali Kachalla attacked the community in an attempt to steal cows.

He said the bandits made away with the stolen cows and when chased by the community, they ambushed the community and killed twenty of them.

Bello further revealed that the bandits attacked soldiers attached to the community.
He added seven of the soldiers were also killed during battle with bandits.

He pointed out that many people were injured and are currently receiving medical attention in Dangulbi primary health care centre.

Malam Bello called on federal and state governments to come to their rescue from the bandits’ nefarious activities in the area.

Blueprint gathered that the attack is coming when Governor Sauda Lawal is holding a crucial discussion with security agencies on how to address the lingering insecurity affecting the state.

However, effort to get response from the military through the spokesperson of Operation Hadarin Daji proved abortive as at the time of compiling the report .
