Two persons were reportedly killed and unspecified number of travelers abducted by bandits over the weekend in Tashar Amale Rafi local government area of Niger state.
It was learnt that the bandits also forcefully dispersed Muslims observing Jumaat prayers in a nearby mosque shooting sporadically.
A villager who spoke with journalists on condition of anonymity said, “the bandits also engaged in shooting sporadically on some Muslims faithful observing Jumaat prayers in the area which forced many to flee for fear of being killed.”
It was gathered that most of the people abducted at Tashar Amale in Rafi local government council were passengers travelling to participate in the election.
The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, confirmed the incident.
