A businessman, Malam Ja’afaru Bello, was killed by having his throat ripped apart by bandits in his farm near Udawa along Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna state.
The local farmers found his corpse later, with his throat holding his dangling head.
The Kaduna state Commissioner of Police, Umar Musa Muri, had told a journalist on phone that he could not confirm the killing.
The murder of the businessman by the bandits had put the local people in panic mode, as they expressed fears that bandits were now slaughtering harmless people and causing fear and confusion among the villagers.
“The bandits attacked him on his farm in the morning at Goluwa on Wednesday. They also kidnapped three farmers,” one of the locals said.
Malam Muhammadu Umaru, a native, told journalists that such gory sight was never seen in the locality. “We have never seen such. He was attacked from the rear and his throat was cut. It was his mutilated throat that held the head.”
The deceased Jafaru left behind four wives and 12 children.
