Audit queries: Reps panel gives MDAs 72 hours to honour summon

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts has given some heads of federal government agencies 72 hours to appear before it, to respond to queries raised against them by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.

The House committee further stated that the latest invitation of the agencies would be the last before a warrant of arrest is issued against heads of the agencies.

The federal government agencies include the Rural Electrification Agency, Nigeria Upstream Regulatory Authority, the Nigeria Satellite Communications Ltd (NIGCOMSAT), the Nigeria Export Promotion Council, the Export Processing Zone Authority and the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun.

Chairman of the House Committee Hon. Bamidele Salam gave the warning on Monday, following the agencies’ refusal to honour the invitation of the panel.

According to Salam, the invitation of the heads of the concerned agencies to the investigative hearing was for them to answer questions on the queries from the report of the office of the Auditor-General of the Federation to the committee.
