‘Atiku’s statement in Kaduna misrepresented’

The immediate past Board of Trustees chairman of People Democratic Party, Senator Walid Jibrin, has urged Nigerians not to be too immersed in the statement credited to PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, noting that he was misrepresented.

Atiku was quoted as telling Northern leaders and stakeholders in Kaduna on Saturday that “Northerners need Northern president not Igbo or Yoruba candidates”, but Sen. Walid said the statement was misrepresented.

According to the PDP chieftain, the Wazirin Adamawa is a pan Nigerian who married both from the Igboland and Yorubaland to show how detribalised he is, adding that the former vice president wants the best for Nigerian and would do everything possible to see a united Nigeria and give the nation the best.

“The statement made by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, (Wazirin Adamawa) PDP presidential candidate at the Arewa House Kaduna was seriously misrepresented as it was widely and wrongly spread in the social media.

“Atiku is a typical Nigerian married to Yoruba and Igbo wives He is a typical pan African. He was in Arewa House to seek the support of the Northerners and to convince the Southerners, especially Yorubas and Igbos on the needs to support him to become the president of Nigeria in 2023.

“He needs the support of all tribal groups in Nigeria even though he comes from the North that is why he is appealing to all Northerners through the Arewa House to convince all Southern groups especially Igbos and Yorubas to give him maximum support like the support earlier given to former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan,” the life PDP BoT member said.
