Appointment of new Wukari varsity VC : Residents exonerate Kundiri, rates school mgt high

Residents of Wukari, the community where Federal University in Taraba state is located have confirmed that the incumbent Vice Chancellor Professor Abubakar Kundiri has not in anyway got involved in the selection process of his successor.

Particularly, they affirmed that based on their observation so far, the VC has remained neutral in the selection process of a new helmsman for the citadel of learning.

One of them who identified himself as Tikon Agya spoke against faceless allegations making rounds that the school’s VC is involved in any wrong doing.

Instead, Agya praised the kind-spirited nature of the incumbent VC which he said endeared him to everyone within the school community.

He described any allegation against the school management by one Musa Ishaku as “false and mere character assassination designed to smear the good image of Prof. Kundiri who has worked tirelessly to reposition the institution to an enviable position it has attained.”

Agya also said allegations that the VC was marginalising Taraba indigenes who applied for the vacant position of school top job was “a blatant lie from the pit of hell.

“The allegations by one faceless Musa Ishaku and his co-sponsors that the vice chancellor and the chairman screening committee Barrister M.B Mustapha leaves more to be desired. In fact, it was an attack to ridicule the reputation of the current VC,” he said.

A senior staff of the school who also spoke to Blueprint said Professor Dalhatu Umaru Sangari, who hails from Wukari and applied for the top post, and was later screened out by the screening committee was not qualified.

“If Sangari is a renowned expert in his field and possesses the requisite experience in leadership, policymaking, management, accountability, and global networking, why didn’t he have the credentials that would qualify him to be appointed by the governing board of the institution?” he queried.

Also, another staff of the institution who do not want his name in the media urged the public to ignore the false allegations that the curent the conspired to disqualify Prof. Sangari in order to enthrone a puppet candidate as the next VC of FU-Wukari.

“Our hardworking VC is not in anyway setting a stage that will make him remain in the position beyond the end of his tenure,” he said.

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to discard all allegations levelled against the school leadership, adding that no Taraba indigene was denied appointment or admission into the university.
