Aliyu to Suswan: We should do away with factions in NGF

Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state has called on his colleague from Benue state, Gabrial Suswan, to join in ensuring the unity of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), adding that it was time for the governors to swallow their pride for unity as the only way forward

Aliyu stated this yesterday while declaring open the 3rd biennial conference of Pro –Chancellors of State -Owned Universities in Minna, in which Governor Suswan delivered a lecture titled politics of funding state universities
Aliyu said: “We have lost lots of grounds because we are divided. We need to do away with factions and we should shallow our pride and be united to bring forward the Nigeria Governors Forum.”

He said many people and organisations wanting to reach the forum have been having difficulties in doing so because they do not know which of the factions to approach, adding that this does not augur well for the forum.
Aliyu berated those calling for the breakup of the country insisting that the unity of the nation was sacrosanct and that this group of people should not be allowed to have their way

In his lecture, Governor Suswan decried the fallen standard of education in the country, adding that most Nigeria universities were operating well below world class standards and producing mediocres who cannot contribute positively to the society
He explained that there was the need to address undue political interference in university administration adding that “all hands must be on deck to address the fallen standard of education in the country”.
