Al-Makura urges WAEC to end examination malpractices

Governor Umaru Tanko  Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has charged the west African Examination Council (WAEC) and other stakeholders in the education sector to bring to an end to the rampant cases of examination malpractices in the country.
He made the call yesterday at the opening of the state WAEC office in Lafia, saying that his administration remained committed to providing infrastructure to schools.
Al-Makura, who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Ajuji Abubakar, explained that government in 2013 provided WAEC Office and a vehicle for easy movement of staff as well as a piece of land to build their office.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing free education from primary to secondary schools; hence, the need for all hands must be on deck to ensure its sustenance.
Also speaking, WAEC’s head of National Office, Yaba, Lagos, Mr. Charles Erugudu, while commending Nasarawa state government for providing them with office accommodation, pledged with it to release 50KVA generator to the office as well as a piece of land for the building of a permanent office.

Erugudu, who lamented the level of examination malpractices in the country, called on stakeholders in education sector to assist WAEC In fighting the menace in the state.
He frowned at some school principals in the state who charged more than 11,400 fees to look somewhere for their money not to use WAEC As their sources of income.
Speaking earlier, president, All Nigerian conference of principal of secondary schools, Nasarawa state chapter, called for the collaborative efforts by stakeholders in tackling examination malpractices in the state.
