Akure Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has signed the N181 billion 2018 budget estimates passed by the state Assembly into law. The governor, also yesterday, signed the Health Insurance Scheme Bill and the Social Protection Bill into law at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure.
Speaker of the state Assembly, David Oloyelogun, while presenting the bills for assent, extolled the doggedness and determination of the governor in the pursuance of efficient and good governance for the people. Governor Akeredolu regretted the high percentage of recurrent expenditure which put at 43 per cent, saying he would take a bold step to address it.
“We are determined to block loopholes in our board of internal revenue by having a totally new board. “We will continue to educate our people on the significance of paying tax. We plan to expand our tax base,” he said.
