Akajemeli, says SERVICOM to be independent, improve economy

The National Coordinator SERVICOM Presidency Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli has said that for Nigeria and her citizens to enjoy improved and trusted service delivery, SERVICOM should be left to stand as an Agency to be able to achieve its mandate effectively.

Akajemeli, stated this at an interview during the 20th anniversary of the organisation with the theme: ‘SERVICOM @ 20 FOSTERING STRONGER FOSTERING STRONGER PARTNERSHIPS AND ENSURING CITIZENS -FOCUSED SERVICE DELIVERY SERVICE WIDE’, on Thursday, in Abuja.

According to her, that the Executive powers lies with Mr. President and has given a directive, “which we have followed suit and with this, we have done a position paper to all the relevant key stakeholders reminding us of the promise of Mr President around this, it’s  a reminder and an information to allow SERVICOM remain as an Agency in view of its unique mandate the profound role and responsibility it has been given.

“SERVICOM, should be an Agency that will be the eyes, ears and the nose of Mr. President, the executive arm and all other arms reporting to them on what the people see around the services delivered to them and so SERVICOM needs to stand as an Agency to be able to carry out its independent surveys and bring untainted reports with a combination of the training we have been giving a lot of officers, to trained and positioned for this by the British government and with the structures we already have in place, I can confidently say we have foot soldiers driving service improvement across the MDAs and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved tools in driving this and so my take for this is to sustain the temple of our achievement.

“And so we need to stand alone and give improved and enhanced funding and more collaboration with world bank, with Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, with Head of Service and other key stakeholders, parastatals and ministries. I believe we can better run and activate trust and confidence which is being worked on, still deficient and for us is work in progress and so we need to continue this work of trust and confidence to all the service that government and governance is bringing to the table.”

Part of the challenge the National Coordinator said, is that, “we are engaging through the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and we have raised information and done letters around this and so we are waiting and also engaging with government that believes so much in touching the lives of the people and especially in the renewed hope of Mr. President and his team.
