Aisha Buhari empowers 2000 women


Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has empowered 2000 women in Yola, Adamawa state. 

Speaking at the event held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, on Tuesday 11th June, 2019.
The event, which was organised by Aisha Buhari Foundation in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mrs Buhari said it is important to empower women because they require very little capital to grow their businesses.
She said empowerment of women would surely affect the whole family and even the community. 

She called on the beneficiaries of the programme to make effective use of the funds given to them in order to self-reliant.
She commended the NDE, which she described as a partner in the empowerment of women and youth in the country.
In her remarks, First Lady of Ghana Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, commended Mrs Buhari for improving the well-being of women and children through empowerment programmes.“Every first lady is uniquely placed to make a difference in the lives of her people. Ours is not an elective position, yet so much is expected of us,” she said.
She said that contrary to common perception, first ladies do not have easy access to funds, and stressed the need for corporate institutions, non-governmental organisations and individuals to support the work of Mrs Buhari.
Also speaking, the Director General of NDE, Dr Nasir Ladan said the programme was inspired by Mrs Buhari’s effort at ensuring that women and youth are mainstreamed into the development process of the nation. 

He said over three million Nigerians have received training in various skills in order to make them self-reliant.
