Air Force holds second quarter route match

In a bid to maintain a physically fit and combat ready personnel, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Saturday, embarked on the 2019 second quarter Route Match exercise.

The exercise, which is a regular event in the NAF annual calendar started from Mogadishu military cantonment parade ground through Asokoro area of Abuja.  

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Sadique Abubakar who was represented by Chief of Policy and Planning, NAF headquarters Air Vice Marshall Emmanuel Anebi “said the exercise is aimed at improving the physical fitness of NAF personnel in order to enable them perform their constitutional roles effectively”.   

He said: “Let me start by commending all officers and men, our civilian staff and civilian friends who have participated in this second quarter Route Match of the Nigerian Air Force.

“The route match is one of the calendar events of the Nigerian Air Force and so this exercise takes place simultaneously in all Nigerian Air Force units and formation all over the country.

“The aim is to ensure that we have agile, physically fit and combat ready officers and men to perform their various duties.

“As exhibited by all of you this morning, we can all attest to the fact that the exercise has been very successful and this goes to demonstrate the high standard of physical fitness and mental agility that is in the Nigerian Air Force today. Off course this is in line with the chief of Air Staff vision of human capital development.

“On this note, I want to commend all of you for this show of gallantry and urge you to continue to maintain this tempo of physical fitness at your physical levels,” he said.
