Former governor of Nasarawa state and Senator representing Nasarawa-west Senatorial district, Abdullahi Adamu, has warned President Goodluck Jonathan to stop interfering  with the activities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adamu, who stated this during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign tour of the state, added that any attempt to postpone the February 14 general elections “and interfere with already existing arrangements will throw the country into chaos.”
He urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to desist from the act or face the wrath of the people that would bring crises in the state.
He challenged Jonathan to come out and state the position of PDP and his office over the planned postponement.
Adamu said there “is growing public apprehension over the silence of the president over such a sensitive development which lays credence to their culpability behind such an unpopular agitation.”
He alleged that the “move is a ploy by the Jonathan and the PDP to destabilise the polity knowing they will fail election if conducted as scheduled.”
He said: “PDP wants this election to be postponed and it must be resisted, elections must hold. They are doing all this because they already know they would fail in the elections if conducted as scheduled.
“Postponement is a dangerous potency and government should come out publicly and make its position known on the matter in the overall interest of peace and good conscience.”
Adamu called on the electorate to re-elect Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura on February 28, to enable him to consolidate on the good works he had started.
He also urged them to return all APC candidates, with particular reference to those of the House of Assembly whom he said would add value to Al-Makura’s style of governance.
