Adamawa: Sit up and perform, Fintiri warns LG chairmen


Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has warn local government area chairmen in the state to sit up and live up to the expectations of the electorates or have themselves to blame.
The governor handed down the warning while speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholder’s meeting in the state held at Government House Yola called at his instance to give a score card of his administration in his almost two years in office.


“I have received alot of complaints and allegations against local governments chairmen in the state. I’m proud of some of them who are working for their people but some are not leaving up to expectations. I want to warn for the last time all chairmen especially those that have refused to change to do so and correct their mistakes or else they will have themselves to blame,” he said.

On his achievements, Fintiri noted that he inherited a debt burden of N140 billion which he is servicing every month, in addituon to so many challenges of insecurity, infrastructural deficit, bloated, ill motivated civil servants, financial crunch and fiscal indiscipline but with visionary leadership he was able to tackle most of the issues and has recorded alot of achievements.


On health, the governor said he is constructing five new 60-bed capacity cottage hospitals in Gombi, Gerei, Lamurde, shelleng and Demsa and upgrading that of fufore and Jada in addition to renovating and upgrading of facilities in Ganye, Numan and Mubi general hospitals as well as modern infectious disease centre and recruitments of 1200 health personnels, among others.


On infrastructure, the governor said he is constructing, roads, flyovers and interchange with underpass in the state capital, and some local governments in the state, stressing that his administration has also leveraged on ramp programme to construct over 341 kilometers of rural roads across the state among many other infrastructural drive.
On education, governor Fintiri said he has declared and implemented free education in all public schools across the state. 
He said his administration has paid WAEC, NECO, students schoolarship, introduced school feeding programmes, paid UBEC counterpart funds and embarked on massive renovation of schools among many other achievements in most sectors of his 11 points agenda.
