AAG: Team Nigeria head to Ghana March, Daga headlines Flying Eagles 20-man squad

The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes to the 13th All Africa Games holding in Ghana will leave the shores of the country on Friday for the biennial festival.


Blueprint correspondent gathered that top officials of the Ministry of Sports Development have been battling frantically to ensure that all the necessary logistics  are put in place.

Meanwhile, several of the sports that qualified for the games are been prune down to manageable size due to the tight financial constraints been experience by the Ministry. Rugby Federation will now feature only the Men’s team though the Female team secured qualification for the games.

It was reliably gathered that Team Nigeria will leave in batches for the games which is staring on March 6 in Ghana.

Meanwhile, highly-rated Daniel Daga will lead four other players who have previously been capped by the Flying Eagles to the All Africa Games in Ghana.

The Flying Eagles under the tutelage of Coach Ladan Bosso resumed training for the games last week and had started playing series of friendly matches to fine tune strategy for the festival.

Defensive midfielder Daga, 17, this year, has been toughened by his time at NPFL champions Enyimba this season.

Doma central defender Haruna Aliyu will be among the new additions to the squad after he impressed in training camp in Abuja.

The Flying Eagles will open their All Africa Games campaign on March 7.
