7 killed as STF, Wase community repel attack

Wase community in Plateau state yesterday repelled another attack and killed no fewer than seven of the attackers.
The renewed attack was allegedly carried out by the Tarok who came from the side of Zango and tried to cross haying Kogi (river side) to make their way into Wase town, a local source told Blueprint.

Our correspondent gathered from Yakubu Wase, who spoke on telephone that the Wase people had been under attack since 6:00 am yesterday till about 3:00 pm, when they completely repelled them.
“They grouped at about 6:00 am, and fired gun shots, but nobody was injured; we battled with them and repelled them at about 3:15, before men of the STF later joined us.”

Shafi’e Muhammad, the youth leader, said “the attackers have suffered casualties of about seven people, but only of our boys sustained injury from bullet brush at his  back.”
Calls to the STF Media/Information Officer, Captain Salisu Mustapha, were not returned.

Similarly, text messages sent to the phone of the STF commander, Major General David Eneite, for his comments, were not replied to as at the time of filing in this report.
However, the Police PRO, ASP Felicia Anslem, confirmed the attack, saying that “there were gun shots, but I cannot give details.”
