5 APC chieftains jostle for Adamawa COS job

Five chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State are jostling to replace late Chief of Staff (COS) to the Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman Abba Jimeta.

According to dependable sources, among the contenders are former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, James Barka, a close associate of the Governor, Maurice Vunobolki, and three APC executive members.

Bakari is said to be enjoying considerable support of 17 lawmakers who are of the view that he has the needed credentials for the job. Before now, Bakari was reportedly canvassing for the position of Governor’s Principal Personal Assistant (PPA).

Spokesman of the lawmakers, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abubakar, (APC-Mubi South) said about 17 of the lawmakers felt Bakari has what it takes to replaced the late Chief of Staff.

“Bakari remains the best foot forward to fill that vacuum created by the departure of Abba. Bakari works closely with Abba in Government House. If we want continuity at this critical time, then Bakari is the answer,” Abdulrahman said.

He said Bakari as an energetic youth and a team player with the needed experience having served as state Organizing Secretary and Secretary of the APC, who worked hard for the party to emerged victorious at all levels during the last general elections.

“Bakari was a key player as State Secretary of the APC and everyone knows the active role he played in the victories of President Buhari, Gov. Bindow and other elective positions under our great party APC”, he said.

Meanwhile, a valedictory session has been held by Adamawa State Executive Council in honour of late Abba. The session was presided over by Governor Bindow, who late Abba as his guardian in politics.
