Three police officers Wednesday afternoon died in a road accident that occurred at Ishieke junction, along Abakaliki -Enugu express way.
The police officers were said to be coming back to Abakaliki from peace keeping at Effium and Ezza-Effium when they were involved in the accident.
They accident however, claimed the lives of 3 officers and about 10 others critically injured were said to be receiving treatment at the hospital.
When contacted on phone, the state Commissioner of police, CP Garba Aliyu, confirmed the incident.
He said, “yes, am in the hospital now, we lost 3 officers while 10 are in intensive unit care”, he said.
An eyewitness account said the incident happened around Isieke Junction along Abakaliki Enugu express-way.
He said that the Hilux vehicle they were using diverted and hit a pavement which resulted to the death of some officers.
