The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, has said that the upcoming Science, Technology and Innovation Exposition in 2023, is a means to proffer solutions to Nigeria’s own challenges as a nation.
The Minister stated this during the inauguration of the Steering Committee of “Expo 2023” on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the FMSTI helmsman, that expo gives opportunity for Nigerians to showcase their natural endowed technology inventions, thereby attract investors, capitalise on bringing in money for the nation. Adding that, the purpose is to get outstanding innovative products into the markets to facilitate commercialization and reproduction of possible inventions.
Mamora said that many Nigerians are naturally endowed with technology innovations and he enjoined them to showcase their technology innovations during the January 2023 EXPO.
The theme of 2023 Expo he said is, ‘actualizing effective diversification of Nigerian economy through Science, Technology and innovation (STI)’, emphasising that STI constitutes the major sector that covers all aspects of human endeavors in the economic development of any country.
The Minister revealed that the recent 2022 STI policy which was launched in march is to enable STI maximally impact on the national Socio-economic land scape with a view to ensuring that Nigeria actually emerged and remain amongst the top 20 leading economy in the world before the year 2030.
Speaking further, the Minister urged the private and media sectors as well as other stakeholders to support the 2023 Science, Technology and Innovation Expo (STI) pointing out that the development of any country is highly depended on her collaboration with the desired stakeholders.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation who was represented by the Director, Health and Bio-Medical Sciences, Pharm. David Erabhrahiemen said that the purpose of the meeting is to share ideas, network and partner in order to advance the essence of STI sector in the country.
