2023: I am optimistic Nigeria will have best elections ever, says Nigerian Ambassador to Guinea Bissau

The Nigerian Ambassador to Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde, John James Usanga, has expressed confidence in the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver a credible election.

According to him, the 2023 general election will be the best since the return to democracy in 1999.

Usanga who stated in an exclusive chat with our reporter, urged   to be patient and cooperate with The President, INEC, the Armed forces, Police and other stakeholders to deliver a credible poll.

“I am very optimistic that we are going to have best election ever conducted since the return to democracy. The good thing is that Mr. President has put his feet down to ensure that the election that is coming is credible and fair and everyone can have the opportunity to elect the people of their choice without undue influence.

“All we need is to educate Nigerians that we need to be patient and cooperate with The President, INEC, the Armed forces, Police and everybody involved in the conduct of our election is ready.

“Even the international community is already on ground waiting for that day and all we need to do is to go out peacefully and elect a leader of our choice and we will begin to see the emergence of something that we need.

“One thing Nigerians are known for is that elections are almost like a warfare but after the election everything becomes calm. The good thing is that somehow we always solve our problems. Indeed I am optimistic. We are going to have a very good election. it’s going to be very exciting because the competition is huge.”
