Alhaji Aminu Yuguda Gusau is the chairman, Matawalle Youth Foundation, which is spearheading Hon. Bello Matawalle 2019 vision. In this interview with Sanusi Muhammad in Gusau, he speaks on the chances of the former member of the House of Representatives becoming the next governor of Zamfara. Excerpt.
Why is the Foundation interested in Matawalle becoming the next Governor of Zamfara in 2019 under the platform of the PDP?
Well, our aimed of forming this foundation is to mobilize the support of Zamfara citizens, particularly the youths to ensure Bello Matawalle is elected the next Governor of Zamfara in 2019. We are struggling and we will, by the grace of God reach our target. First, we want to ensure that he scaled through the PDP Governorship primaries and, then the general elections. Now, we are interested in Matawalle becoming Governor in 2019 because every human should know what he or she likes or dislike in all aspect of life. So for us, as we are talking to you now we have never met with Matawalle one on one, but I have his interest based on his patriotic nature and leadership qualities.
I read him before now and because of what we saw in him as best among the PDP governorship aspirants. That is what makes us to believe in him, that if he is given the chance to him in the next 2019 election, he will be a leader who can deliver to the yearnings of the populace of Zamfara State. Matawalle is a man who possesses the greatest burden of responsibilities and can create vital and important projects for the people by utilizing public funds equitably and for the betterment not for his personal interest, but public good.
Why do you think Matawalle stands out among all those aspiring for the position?
You see like I said, Aminu has been blessed by God with many things a right thinking human being wishes to possess. And I am not saying this for personal interest, but as a matter of the fact Matawalle possesses leadership qualities; he has the minds of Zamfara people at heart and he is capable of governing the state and changing the face of development in Zamfara state and we believe that he can solve the development problems of Zamfara State.
How sure is the foundation that Matawalle can successfully lead Zamfara taking it to the next level, if he became Governor?
Because he has studied the problems of the state, has leadership qualities and is willing to make sacrifices for the people. I believe he can do it because of his love for the state and Zamfara people. As a matter of fact, he would a gift to Zamfara people. Matawalle is prudent, mild and humane person and also has self control.
You have talked about leadership qualities, what else makes you think he should be the governor and not his contemporaries?
He loves justice, and where there is justice everything would go smooth in leadership. Again any leader who doesn’t have justice at heart would definitely have the problem of poor and inadequate leadership. So, Matawalle is somebody who has fought for justice all his life. This makes him gain wider acceptance and generates greater interest from the all well meaning people of Zamfara and indeed the electorate. He is also full of patriotic zest, he loves his state and always wants to see it developed socially and economically. Matawalle like I said if given the chance was given would take the state to the political and economic Promised Land, no doubt about this.
How would you sale Matawalle to Zamfara people as Chairman Matawalle Foundation to achieve the desired objectives?
You see like I told you Matawalle is a truthful somebody who every Zamfara man and woman, youths and the old knows about. At our own level, we have prepared and already engaged ourselves to embark on vigorous enlightenment campaign across the state to highlight the people of the state on the important of voting a right and competent leader who would administer the state both socially and economically.
Ours also is to ensure Zamfara people knows the kind of politics been played by some politicians of the state that failed to deliver, and we want them to understand the mission we have and the struggling we put in place, so that together we fight to rescue the state from its present predicament.
Can you tell us some of his vission and missions which you think if he became Governor would apply them?
You see, like I said earlier Matawalle poses some leadership qualities characterized his ability to rule this country and Justice is one of those qualities. In justice everything would be alright in act of leadership. Like you know one of the problems militating this country is insecurity, here I believed is one of the problems he is going to tackle, the unemployment which as a result has thrown some of our teaming youths (graduates) into crime. So I believe this area would definitely be considered. Welfare of the people and the development of the state resources were the Matawalle guiding principles.
One of Matawalle characteristic in life is his generosity which majority of Zamfara people believed in that, so if he happen to be Governor of Zamfara state this generosity attitude would be extended to all citizens of the state. Another area of important to mention is respect to all irrespective of party differences and this I believed was as a result of his Justice.
What benefits did Matawalle brought to Zamfara as a member of the House of Representatives as to merit being voted as Governor in 2019?
ce Contributed to the growth of democracy in the state, while he was member Federal House of Representatives from 2003 to 2015 and ensured that the people of Zamfara state received democracy dividends. His and quest for unity and ensuring that everyone had a sense of belonging was what really endeared him to Zamfara people, both within the PDP and the other political parties. Therefore, I believe based on these Zamfara people would give Bello Matawalle the total support he needs to be the next Governor of Zamfara state come 2019.
