2019: PDP zones governorship to Plateau South

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau State chapter has zoned the party’s governorship position to the Southern Senatorial District of the State.
This arrangement corrects the error of 2015 when it was roundly stated that the party’s failure to file a candidate from the Southern Zone led to its defeat in the 2015 gubernatorial polls.
The party made this known in a resolution made public at the end of its State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, John Akans, confirmed this in a signed communiqué made available to the press yesterday,
“After an exhaustive deliberation of issues on the agenda, SEC resolved that the party will organise a retreat for its executive committee, and members the national and state assemblies. State Working Committee was mandated to organize and communicate date for same.
“Pursuant to the provision of the new party constitution, which gives each State Chapter the opportunity of producing one additional member of the Board of Trustees member, SEC zoned same to the Southern senatorial district considering the fact that both the Central and Northern Districts are represented,.
“SEC also approved the appointment of two physically challenged persons into the caucus of the party in line with the party’s constitution.
“The meeting also approved the zoning of the party’s governorship position to the Southern zone for the purposes of the 2019 general elections”, he said.
According to him, the state chairman, Damishi Sango, lauded members of the party for their sacrifices and support adding that it is working hard to ensure victory in the 2019.
Some leading lights in attendance according to the communiqué included
Senators Jeremiah Useini, Jonah Jang, and other national and state assembly members, among others.
