2019: PDP fortunes intact in Niger – Aspirant

Minna

The recent defection of some members the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state will not affect the fortunes of the party in the 2019 general elections, a governorship aspirant of the party, Hon. Umar Ahmed, has said.
Ahmed stated this yesterday in an interview with journalists He said his aspiration to serve the people remained intact despite the movement of those he described as “disgruntled elements” out of the PDP.
The aspirant said he was happy that they left the party before the 2019 election, adding that “I am not disturbed by their defection to APC.”
Ahmed said he was the best of the aspirants running for governor in 2019 as a grassroots mobiliser.
He dismissed insinuations that he was fronting for enemies of PDP, insisting that he was not being sponsored by any godfather to create divisions in the PDP.
“I do not have godfather in politics and I am sure that I have the requisite experience to govern the state having served as council chairman and a member of the House of Representatives,” he said.
