North Central condemns EFCC’s rush to investigate Yahaya Bello

The North Central Integrity Group (NCIG) Saturday strongly condemned the rush by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate former Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello.

Convener of the North Central Integrity Group, Mallam Musa Audu, stated this in a press statement he issued Sunday in Lafia.

The statement said: “While we respect the EFCC mandate, we denounce the undue haste in investigating former Governor Bello’s alleged involvement in a fraud case.

The group described the EFCC’s investigation as a politically driven attack on the former Kogi state governor.

“This rush appears to be orchestrated by adversaries seeking to undermine the north central’s interests.”

This campaign against Bello is unmistakably political, aiming to thwart the north central’s rightful claim to the APC’s national chairmanship position.

Recalling the All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) decision to allocate the national chairman position to the north central, Audu added that Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s subsequent resignation necessitated a replacement.

“However, the appointment of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from the North west over a North central nominee is a clear departure from fairness.

“The north central’s objections to this injustice have drawn unwarranted retaliation, because Bello is believed to be their choice. This is also fueled by Ganduje’s apparent ambition and supported by political opponents,” he said.
