Zulum lays foundation of eye, dental hospitals in Biu 

The Borno state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum weekend laid the foundation for  the construction of an eye and a dental hospital in Biu town, the  headquarters of Biu local government council in southern Borno.

The eye hospital has two operation theatres, consulting rooms, an administrative complex and male and female wards with a combined capacity of 56 beds, while the dental hospital has an edifice equipped with all the facilities needed to provide dental care to the people. 

While warning contractors to ensure specified standards gave six months for completion of  the project.

He further stated that his administration has approved two eye and dental hospitals to be situated in southern and northern Borno to complement the one in Maiduguri.

“In fulfillment of our electioneering campaign promise to construct eye and dental hospitals in southern and northern Borno to complement the existing dental and eye hospital in Borno Central, we are here to flag off the construction of new dental and eye hospital in Biu.

“I want to direct the contractors to complete this project in six months while ensuring all the required specifications are observed,” Zulum said.

He further said the state  government aims to ensure affordable healthcare service delivery to the people of the state within its limited resources while  disclosing the approval of funds for the upgrading of the Biu General Hospital to a Specialist Hospital.
